a home
with roots
A beautiful home should do more than look good. It should feel rooted: in the way you live, in the place it stands, and in the things that make you who you are, such as your collection, your heritage and your rituals.
Many homes never quite get there. A new-build that feels like a show home. A move to a new country where nothing feels familiar yet. A collection that doesn’t sit right in its new rooms.
Claire has a strong eye and well-developed taste. Her skill is bringing together pieces from different eras, places and styles, both yours and new ones, into a home that feels coherent, beautiful and unmistakably yours.
She works alongside your architect or builders on the layer where a home puts down roots: the concept, the materials, finishes and colours, the art and objects, the light and sound, and the atmosphere of each room and how it’s used. Her work comes together as a detailed design scheme and schedules, ready for your architect or on-site team to deliver. On larger projects, she can stay involved through delivery.
Have a home in mind?
four ways claire can work with you on your home
Before you build: your life in the brief
When you’re building or renovating, you’ll be asked to make hundreds of decisions, often before you know how you want to live in the space. Claire works on your side, helping you put into words how you want to live and feel there. She turns that into a clear brief and sketches to take forward, so the home is rooted in your life, your existing furniture and art, and what you hope for, from the very first drawing. This can be a single engagement or a series, depending on the size of the project.
One room: a place to belong
A single space, reimagined around how you want to use it and how you want to feel there. A bedroom made for rest, a study for focus, a room to gather in or listen to music. One room that feels completely yours can anchor a whole home.
a whole home scheme
If you’re overhauling an entire house or starting from scratch with a newbuild, Claire works alongside your architect or design-and-build team to create a scheme for the whole home: how you’ll live in it, how it will feel, and the colours, materials and pieces throughout. She then hands it over to your on-site team to deliver.
special commissions
Some of the most meaningful pieces in a home are the ones made for it: textiles and soft furnishings woven or upholstered for a particular room, and furniture or lighting made to measure. Claire shapes the brief, guides the conversations and oversees the making, so commissioning feels like a pleasure rather than a risk. If you have time, she’ll take you to the workshops to meet the makers and see how your pieces are made, so each one arrives with a story you were part of from the start.
FOR FAMILIES AND FAMILY OFFICES
Some clients aren’t thinking about one home, but several, and about how they’ll be lived in for generations.
We bring one coherent approach across a portfolio: a London house, a country estate, a home abroad. Each is rooted in its own place, but all of them unmistakably belong to the same family. With Adam Art Advisory, collections can be planned to move between homes, with each piece placed where it means most.
For heritage properties, we look at what should be preserved, what should be reimagined and what should be introduced, so a place is cared for rather than simply refurbished. For estates that also earn, from holiday lets to a boutique hotel, we bring the same commercial approach that took Borradill from 30% to 72% occupancy in its first year.
Every project has a clear scope and stages agreed in advance. 3D visualisation lets you see decisions before you make them, and a living budget shows the cost of each choice as the design develops. We work alongside your architects, project managers and advisers, and always with complete discretion.
